“Sylvan -XJ9-3050 a great detector. While living in Florida I go to the beaches after a major storms to retreive gold coins. In this past 3-months, I found 2 gold coins from sunken ships. This is an isolated section mid-state and not well known to those from out of state. Thanks for the good reading”

Micahel, the best advice that I can give you is start with an all around metal detector then as you learn more buy something more advanced. The biggest mistake that beginners make is buy an expensive complicated detector and have trouble using it. There is a lot to learn about metal detectors and metal detecting the best place to start is familiarizing your self with your metal detector. A good recovery probe in my opinion is also a must it pinpoints with accuracy I might add, try the DetectroPro Pistol Probe it’s the best I have seen out there.
